Comment: He is so harsh on grades. Also the prompts are usually not clearly given so it makes writing essay really hard. JUST DON'T take his class. The works you put into it won't yield expected outcomes.

Comment: Ari is definitely one of the best GSIs that I've had at Cal. He's incredibly understanding and does his best to help you. The books he selected for the class were really interesting, which made discussions easy and fun. I highly recommend taking his class.

Comment: David is such an interesting, awesome guy. The material for this class is really unique and strange, mostly consisting of texts that push the boundaries of what language is, etc. All the material seemed like it would make more sense if you were high on hallucinogens. Somehow David was able to make it all make sense! Grade for this class included 4 essays (final was the 4th essay), attendance, one leading discussion, and wednesday response questions. Not to much work at all. David is extremely helpful and will take hours out of his day to go on a walk or sit down with you and discuss your essay, life, etc

Comment: If you are enthusiastic, you're be fine. Talk a lot in class, chances are if you say everything that comes to mind, something just might be a brilliant idea. He runs his class like that as well, we write so much and only portions turn into parts of our final product. He always has great stories, and his lectures are always exciting. The work is harsh, though. Don't take his class if you think writing is a weak point of yours, because you might struggle for hours on assignments, even if you end up with an A or B in the end.

Comment: She's the best instructor one could have for R&C classes! I feel terribly sad that she's leaving Berkeley.

Comment: I enjoyed the topic of this class, which was about love and relationships. Erin was a good GSI, however, it was hard to tell what she wanted from us sometimes. But I put in effort and by the end of it, my English has improved and I ended up with a surprising A- in this class. She was always available for office hours, and gave us extensions if necessary. I quite enjoyed this class even though I've never liked English in my life.

Comment: Honestly, she's the best teacher I have ever met in Berkeley! I am an essay phobic, and an international student. So, I seriously had a problem with writing. But she was super patient with me, and very helpful. She knows her materials, and is adequately passionate about it. I loved her way of teaching, and it was the best class I have ever taken.
