Comment: I was only in this class for the first week, so take this with a grain of salt. His handwriting is completely unreadable. I am not exaggerating. He also speaks very slowly and quietly, so he usually needs a mic; the problem is there are often technical issue delays because of the mic. Due to both of these factors, the fact is you will pretty much need to learn from the textbook, in any class you take with him.

Comment: Professor Sly is pretty chill. Can be a bit dry in lecture but I liked him a lot. Very helpful in office hours, but try to go to the morning ones for some 1-1 time because the afternoon office hours has 8-10 people trying to crowd into a small table with 5 seats! Exams were okay, the first was too easy, the second people didn't have enough time for, and the final was good. Regarding the course- I felt that stat 150 covers way too much (as much breadth as IEOR 263A+263B without as much depth) so it's easy to fall behind as well as not be able to appreciate the finer details of stochastic processes. Other than that, it was probably my most favorite class I've taken here at Berkeley.
