Comment: Due to the amount of material in MSE 102, you'll be learning at a very fast pace. There's a large amount of theory in this course but Chrzan is a great lecturer, presenting the information in a concise and understandable way and answering any questions that come up. He shows the math of the theory and stresses the main ideas that come out of these derivations. Assignments and exams can be challenging, due to the course being conceptually difficult as well.

Comment: Assignments - Long, tedious, but very good exam prep Helpfulness - Very helpful in office hours; will guide you to correct answer and deeper understanding of material if so desired Exams - A bit long, but not undoable. Also likes to make jokes a lot, though the majority aren't particularly funny.

Comment: Fairly abstract, but profound course in terms of material covered. Problem sets often required MATLAB. Exams were reasonable, but you had to score >85% to get an A- at least.

Comment: Chrzan's a nice guy, but this class wasn't very well taught: there was too much material, the class went at a ridiculously fast pace, and there was no textbook for guidance. Lectures emphasized derivation over application so problem sets and exams were pretty difficult. The class introduced some really interesting material, but because of the fast pace and lack of depth for the many subjects presented, I left the class feeling like I didn't learn very much :\

Comment: The material is challenging, but Chrzan's sense of humor makes lectures enjoyable. Some of the math and the derivations get tricky, especially if you've never seen quantum before, but the exams are straightforward (still not easy) and mostly focused on problem solving rather than details of derivations. Make sure you understand all the problem sets and exam reviews, because they reflect the test content pretty accurately.

Comment: Exams usually are too long and don't cover what was taught. But the instructor makes sure you learn certain things and is all around an enthused guy to learn from

Comment: Really abstract course, the course content contains everything(but not in deep), so its not a fun class. HW are hard sometime, but office hrs are really helpful.
