Comment: Essay prompts were given a week prior to the due date and were a bit confusing if you didn't go to office hours. Exams were straightforward but required a THOROUGH understanding of the texts read in class. The professor was very accessible and open to discuss, never felt like there was a dumb question because she always was able to spin it into something relevant to the discussion.

Comment: Golburt's office hours were definitely the best. She was very willing to go over essays/concepts in class that were confusing. Also, she offered bonus points on the midterm/final/in general which really helped pull my grade up. The one thing about this class is that there is a LOT of reading, so if you have zero experience with Russian literature, this might not be the best class. Lectures can sometimes get boring and attendance is taken every day, but the texts we read are REALLY good (ie Tolstoy, Chekhov, Dostoevsky). I didn't do so well on my first essay, but was surprised to see that I had managed very good grades on the midterm/final, so I guess this class is easier than it seems?

Comment: Great lectures, good selection of readings, and lots of very interesting discussions. She asks the class for ideas and she can really work with anything. No matter what you say she'll have something insightful and guiding to add.

Comment: Overall, this is a really interesting class, and Prof. Golburt is very passionate about the material. She is also a very fair grades, and makes very helpful comments on the essays. Occasionally lectures may be boring when students aren't asked to participate, but as a whole, great class.
