Comment: She is really good with summarizing the main reading points for you which is a good thing since the whole class is based on reading points to be able to use them write papers and answer quizzes

Comment: Very easy course. Just put in some work and you'll get an A. 30 points possible extra credit at the end. You must attend class to get the participation points. can be somewhat boring in lecture though.

Comment: She was an amazing teacher! She was super helpful during office hours and her lecture material was always interesting. She gives you the test questions before the midterm/final so there is no way you can go wrong! Absolutely recommend!

Comment: Midterm/Final are 4 short essays. Professor Reed gives 8 essay prompts and chooses 4. This makes the exams doable. You can get an A in this course by: going to class, doing some of the readings (she summarizes the readings so you know what is important), and doing the essay prompts before the exam. I learned so much about families. I would recommend this class. Its 4 units, pretty manageable A, you don't really have to do the readings, exams are easy (if you answer prompts), and there is no discussion.

Comment: She is a passionate professor, a great lecturer, most people didnt go to class because if enough attended she would post the slides online. I went in with the impression that this class would be an easy A, but the reviews below I would disagree with. Her readers grading rubric for the essays are clear cut, but in terms of midterms its very difficult to know what they are looking for. I answered all the midterm questions correctly, but because it did not match the opinions of the reader, i did not do well. Overall she is nice, but only 4 assignments means very small room for error. She is a good professor, but dont believe the hype in terms of the easiness of the course.

Comment: Interesting class to take, but was difficult to stay awake at times being at 8am. Kelsey was very enthusiastic about the material. Lecture slides were really helpful. A lot of reading for this class.

Comment: This is one of the best sociolog courses i have taken thus far! kelsey is very down to earth and is a great lecture. she also provides chances for extra credit. my only concern with the class is the readers talking to your g.s.i/ reader after the first assignment is crucial in order to do well in the class because there is no discussion for this class just meeting once with your reader can help the reader understand where you are coming from in your paper.
