Ratings for Parlour, C A

Comment: She was a very helpful professor and really understood the material. The final was really hard, and it would've been better if the midterms had similar questions. You really needed to understand all the material and able to integrate many concepts in order to attempt the questions. The questions were similar to her in class worksheets but with more depth and required careful thinking. She expected you to connect the dots from her lectures and apply the concepts together that may not seem relevant on the surface.

Comment: She was a very nice person. Could see she does try to slow down and take time to answer questions. However, the final exam was brutal.. Spent a week studying, which ended up being a waste of everyone's time. The final was literally unsolvable. Final grades were screwed up so everyone either went up or went down a grade after BearFacts grades were submitted... Headache.

Comment: You can tell that Christine is very knowledgeable about the subject. Her explanations weren't quite clear enough for to me, but that could just be me. One thing is for sure though: she's very nice and patient. She would answer every question, easy or hard, in class. Sometimes, I felt like we were wasting time answering questions people could easily find out from the book or lecture slides. I highly recommend reading the book for UGBA 103, for the sake of understanding the subject. The final was hard; it really tests your understanding of the concepts so make sure you dig deeper into the subject and understand the connection behind everything. Going over the slides REALLY helps.

Comment: Christine is an awesome professor. I don't know if she'll teach the course again but this semester, she was clear in her expectations and truly delivered the material in an easy way for us to understand. Homework, case studies, and the two midterms (each worth only 10% of our grade and one is dropped if we score higher on the final) were reasonable, but the reason her exam grade is rated low by myself is the fact that literally no one in the class had any idea on how to do the vast majority of problems on the final exam. It was literally the hardest final exam I have taken at Cal and I came into the final with an A- and left the class with a B. Everyone felt that they bombed it and I think it was totally unreasonable of her to put forward such a test.
