Comment: Got an A+ in his class. 2ez, need real challenge tbh (ST). In all seriousness, Sarpong is the boss. His voice is soothing and paced at just the right speed to get you through lecture. He is very clear and elegant on the blackboard and writes out explanations for the concepts. Although some people found his exams challenging, it does not matter because, like most science classes here, your grade is based on how well you can compete with other students. Beat the SD and you'll get an A. He provides ample practice problems for you to apply your knowledge. Online homework was a chore; you sort of do it just to get the points. Keep up with lectures and you'll do well. There's no special trick to it. He has a ted talk on youtube you can look up to see how he speaks. Don't mess with him in the streets; he's a mean wrestler.

Comment: I took 3A with Marsden in Spring 2014, which was practically a whole year without ochem. I went into 3B pretty nervous but it turned out to be alright. Sarpong's exams were pretty fair, averages were generally quite low but not ridiculously low. His pace in lecture was just fine and gave us students enough time to copy every single word on the board. Sapling homework wasn't that helpful and just a pain in the butt. He gave us enough practice problems and textbook recommended problems to study for the midterms and final, but partial credit is hard to come by with the mechanisms.

Comment: I took Chem 3A with Pedersen in Fall 2014, and I have to say that Sarpong made me hella like Organic Chemistry. Sarpong speaks at the perfect pace during lectures (unlike Pedersen where I was just scribbling done notes without understanding the content), and is extremely helpful during Office Hours. Chem 3B was no doubt a challenge, but I really enjoyed learning about the practical applications of the mechanisms we were learning, like ergosterol and vitamin D production. Sarpong's tests are a bit tricky, but curved very generously. Overall, Sarpong is a BRO. Disclaimer: I got an A+ but had to work for it.

Comment: I was so excited to take Chem 3B because I loved 3A so much with Pedersen. I actually hated this class. Sarpong goes really slow in lecture, which is really nice and he writes on the chalkboard, but I honestly did not know what to do for this class. I got a B in Chem 3A and i received a C in the 3B half. I really wish I was able to take it with Pedersen or Marsden because I did not learn anything in Sarpong's class. His tests were terrible for because the majority of his exams were mechanisms and I would always get 0/30 or 0/75 on mechs and so I would bomb the midterms and final. What's really nice about Sarpong is that it is really hard to fail the class. If you're looking just to pass a class with no effort, take it with Sarpong, but if you want to study hard, learn a lot and get a good grade, I suggest Marsden or Pedersen. With sarong a 25% was passing which is very generous and the most lenient curve I have ever seen.

Comment: Lecture can be kind of dry, but his blackboard notes are very clear. Tricky tests.

Comment: This class made my semester feel like hell. His tests are extremely difficult (averages are around 45-50%), and he does not give you that many study resources. On top of that, he rushes through lectures, making it difficult to grasp the difficult material. Do not take classes with this professor - it's not worth it. Just wait for another professor to teach the class.
