Comment: I personally had awful experiences with her and frankly most of my class mates did too. She is a very biased person and play favorite all the time. If your not her favored one well get ready to wait for weeks even months and not get back the feedback of your essays. It is not that hard to get a good grade in her class at all, suck her ass like quoting her sentences in your essay and tell her you had a horrible childhood the first day u meet her would certainly help you get a better grade. Besides that she is extremely disorganized, I clearly remember more than half of the class were in panic the day before the portfolio was due because she did not go over most of our essays at all. We waited in her office until 11 at night and she did not end up even looking once at some of our essays. She did not know how to balance her jobs in UC Berkeley, Berkeley City College and another job in SF therefore youd better ask lots of help from outside resources (SLC tutors, dorm tutors, whoever is good at writing).

Comment: Professor Crisp is a sweetheart. She is clearly very into what she teaches and really wants everyone to get involved. As far as facilitating the class goes, she does an excellent job creating thoughtful questions out of thin air and getting the class to talk. She was very helpful when we were writing papers and would strongly urge us to schedule meetings with her outside of class. Her grading this semester was very generous, as everyone got either an A or a B. She also allowed some students to turn their papers in after the due dates. Speaking of due dates.... Her assignments are very poorly structured and she often doesn't collect everything and almost always will push the due date back if the majority of the class doesnt complete the assignment. However, once everyone figured this out, a lot of people stopped doing the more menial work and she got a little perturbed. It was also often unclear what was due for next class. She did, for one of the last lectures, provide us with a checklist which came in handy. All in all, I would highly recommend taking her class. She is a very sweet woman and loves interacting with students and if she sees you putting in effort, you will be rewarded.

Comment: Professor crisp was a nice teacher - she spent a lot of time helping students with their writing, but that took over most of the class. She would always push papers back, and extend the due date, and would constantly want you to work on it and before you know it, it's after spring break and you're still working on your first paper! She was really great in grading papers, but as a teacher, she would go off topic sometimes, very disorganized, and would force you to perfect a paper when you just want to turn it in(I mean that's great that she made us do that, but we gotta move on sometime). Her disorganization really made me dislike this class over the year. Plus she really didnt help us write a research paper, which sucked because it made me struggle towards the end of the term. If you don't want to be frustrated and struggling towards the end of the semester, I highly suggest not taking her!

Comment: So disorganized and lack of schedules for classes...always goes off topic and never follows a set schedule. assignments are always pushed back and you never know when something is due. in the end, you are dying with like three 10-page essays due at once because she is irresponsible with scheduling and organization. moreover, anything you read in class has nothing to do with what you end up writing about for your research paper.

Comment: She is very enthusiastic and helpful, but she is very unorganized. She keeps pushing the deadline which is good most of times. But sometimes, you just want to turn in papers and not worry about them. Overall, I recommend taking the course with her!

Comment: No exams given. Only papers and written assignments. Overall an absolutely wonderful teacher and person. Class can be boring at times, but Professor Crisp is very caring, helpful, and understanding. Extensions were given to the class on an almost regular basis.
