Comment: Larkin was not very enthusiatic for college writing 130. I went to office hours but be was not very helpful at all. papers were brutal, and grading feedback was minimal. If you want to improve your creative writing skills, I would not recommend this class.

Comment: Larkin is simply a nice guy that is willing to help you all the time. He graded pretty hard on the main essays, and there were a lot of small little assignments that could get annoying, but overall a good class to be a part of.

Comment: Larkin is AMAZING. There are only three essays for the whole class (not including the simple 2-page responses that are sometimes homework paired with reading...he's very understanding and will accept 2 pages of stream-of-consciousness style for these) and he gives TONS of hand-written feedback to make sure your rough draft turns into a grade A paper for the final draft. He's very fond of handouts, which are helpful (if you have a convenient way to organize them) and he's also just a very easy-going, approachable guy. Highly recommend this class if he's teaching it.

Comment: Larkin is extremeley understanding. I came into the class in the Spring, and had a horrible R2A course (DO NOT TAKE AAS R2A with LEONG!!!). I did not attend a couple classes because of work load in other classes and my job, but Larkin personally emailed me letting me know that the handouts he distributed are in the CW dept in Wheeler and if everything was okay. He is super approachable like everyone says and comments on your writing in such detail and in the most constructive, sensitive way. His work load however is pretty good, but on top of your other courses it can get hectic. But every assignment he gives scaffolds towards the end product/essay. This semester's theme was technology taking over humanity and he gave us the option to make a technological representation of our research reflection instead of writing a 3-5 pages reflection. He allocates time for discussion and lecture very skillfully and smoothly --> very good at facilitating. He also uses Piazza to encourage students to talk with each other and posts articles and movie clips about the books we read or the course in general. He is amusing as well, making funny jokes here and there. Larkin also gave us girl scout cookies he bought from his daughter!! HE IS THE MAAANN!!! :D

Comment: Really enthusiastic professor. The class is really useful, as learning how to conduct proper research is relevant in any career. The assignments were often quite long and tedious, but not impossible.

Comment: Course material regarding food was very interesting and possibly life changing. On the actual assignments however, if you're not good at writing 3 - 5 page papers, you will spend HOURS on your drafts. I highly recommend to consult the professor when this happens, as he will defintely help you flesh out your ideas.

Comment: One of the best professors I've had here. He really wants you to improve and his comments on papers are extremely helpful. I used to bother him during office hours all the time, and he would help me very patiently, and I definitely became better at laying out arguments. He organizes his course very carefully, all you have to do is follow the deadlines. The course is challenging, but its fun (that's how every course should be.)
