Comment: This class was great in terms of the methodologies we learned in class. This is the gateway of empirical economics, which opened my mind about doing research. Professor Finan is a great person and super passionate about what he is teaching. Outside of class, he's very approachable and sometimes he holds group office hour to help us for problem sets, which could be challenging. Exams are fair, but there's definitely a lot to understanding well. One of my favorite parts of the class is using Stata to do analysis. It was challenging at the beginning time because I didn't learn Stata in my econometrics class. But this is actually a very practical software to learn while we are still in college because for people who are into research, this is a widely used one. Overall, it's not an easy A class, but it's definitely my favorite (tied with Econ 142) and worth taking with Fred!

Comment: Exams are fair. Material could be a little bit difficult if you didn't take econometrics before. can learn a lot about stata from problem sets.

Comment: I love Fred, he's really passionate about teaching this stuff! This class is not easy but if you are interested in development economics and applying the things you learnt from Econometrics class. This is a great class! Assignments and exams are hard but oh well ~ I am glad I chose this class as my econ elective!
