Comment: I took this class with Papadopoulos and Packard. Papadopoulos made a little more sense than Packard for me, as he went through things slower. The first midterm was not bad, but the second was horrible and screwed some people over. The midterms were done on paper, so if you messed up a coding you got the whole question wrong. The labs (weekly assignments) took way too long. It was a really helpful course, in that I've used Matlab and the skills I acquired with later classes, but it took a toll on my GPA.

Comment: I took this class with both Papadopoulos and Packard -- I will say, I preferred Packard. In comparison, Papadop was less enthusiastic and less helpful. He covered very basic material at a slow pace, but then the homeworks and exams expected a much deeper understanding of the same topics. He could have held more OH's. He seemed likeable, but I wish he had put more into this class. That said, he wasn't an unfair grader in the end.

Comment: The labs for this class took way too long. A lot of the work was pointless because we had to write our functions and test them against functions that are already programmed into Matlab. Matlab is a great tool, but this class went into way too much detail.

Comment: This class is awful, at least with these two teaching it. They are very intelligent professors, but their expectations are way too high. Assignments took forever and the exams were hell. Unless you are a programming genius, do not take this class with those two if you can avoid it.

Comment: I took E7 when Packard and Papadopoulos taught it together in Fall 2011 and it was an extremely challenging class. Problem sets routinely took between 20-30 hours to complete. The first exam was easy, the second ruined lives (people cried...seriously) and the final was somewhere inbetween but closer to the second.
