Comment: Super enthusiastic, seriously knows what he's talking about. This class really got me excited about herpetology. Lab exams require a serious amount of memorization... I tried to do it all several nights beforehand and ended up screwing myself over, but as long as you keep on top of everything it's not a conceptually difficult class. The field trips for this class were probably the best part of my semester, go on all 3 if you can!

Comment: Assignments include a field project and a field journal. Definitely keep up with your work! It'll be a huge pain to catch up with everything during the last week. The field journal and project were due on the same day and before dead week (so don't expect that to be your 'catch up' time). Granted, McGuire is one of my favorite professors. His enthusiasm with all things (not just herps) is contagious. Exams are fair, but note that McGuire loves testing on mechanisms. (ie: mechanism of ballistic tongue protrusion). All in all, this class was a lot of work but it was the most fun I've ever had.
