Comment: This was definitely a tough class, with a new problem set every lecture, and a straight grading scale. But the assignments were actually really useful, and helped a lot with understanding the material. Glaeser was kind of intimidating during lectures, but he was always really helpful during office hours and willing to answer any questions you had.

Comment: Professor Glaeser appears to understand the true usefulness of homework assignments- to streamline the studying process and encourage self-discovery by applying one's knowledge of the material thus far, to solve problems. He typically wrote 2-3 assignments per week, but only after considering what he actually covered in the previous lecture, to make sure the assignment was relevant. Homework was 30% of the final grade, as much as the final exam, and so we were rewarded for effort. Glaeser is a clear and excellent lecturer for teaching fundamental principles, and the first engineering professor who I felt lectured a bit too slowly. Three "pop" quizzes were given, but at predictable times, and involved basically regurgitating lecture material directly, while exams were cleverly written to ask us to actually think. Sadly this was Glaeser's final semester teaching E115, but I recommend taking another class e.g. MSE 103 with him if possible.

Comment: A very clear lecturer with exceptional notes. Assigns a lot of homework: 2-3 problem sets a week and doesn't post solutions to them EVER, which makes it difficult to study. Exams are not overly difficult, but bear in mind that he doesn't curve his class.

Comment: His assignments are not easy, but if you keep up with them you WILL learn the secrets of the universe and thermodynamics. He is also more sociable during office hours.

Comment: Great professor. Homework is assigned in obscene quantities, but towards the middle of the course you realize how useful it is.
