Comment: While he's pretty enthusiastic about the subject, he's very disorganized. His exams are not very well planned out; our second midterm and final were about the same length (though our midterms were 1 hour and our finals were 3)... He made the second midterm so long that he had to grade on effort and the average was still a 68%. If he had graded on correctness instead, I'm not sure the average would have been above a 40. While I'm happy that I got points for it, he gave me full credit for rewriting the question but not making any progress towards a solution. If you do take it with him, be prepared for a disorganized teacher.

Comment: He may be a good researcher and a professor, but when it comes to teacher, he's extremely below par. I even took a difficult core math class and did exceptionally well. But this professor, he lacks the ability to teach. He does not keep the list of materials covered in the course up to date, so certain students who try to learn the material find it infuriating. He rarely assigns homework. We got at most six homework for the semester, while most math classes, you would get about 12 hw assignments. Not only there were six hw's, but they were a joke (in a sense that they were extremely easy). They did not represent the exam at all. For his exam, they were neither based on homework nor on the book. They did represent what the professor thought was interesting for the topic we were learning. I hope this professor does indeed read this review. He should not be allowed to teach at all. Of all my math professors I had, I was pleased in some aspect of how they ran their courses, but this professor was the worst. Please refine your teaching skills before you hurt more students with your non-existent teaching skills. I think he is done with his Post-Doc at Berkeley.
