Comment: At the beginning of the semester, Professor Moroney said that many of his previous students had become dedicated "Bach enthusiasts" by the end of his course and I'll admit I was skeptical...after all, I have taken many music courses and most of them are well...easy. Professor Moroney's class is quite different in the sense he's very serious, but passionate about his course on Bach. And...I'm not much of a writer, so seeing that papers had to be a minimum of 10 pages (other classes had been single digit page requirements) was a little undermining... That being said, I can attest that I consider Bach as my favorite classical music composer now! Maybe because I think very systematically rather than expressively with my music, but Bach's music fits my personality and albeit, Professor Moroney's too. He even gave us chances to perform on a replica 1770's harpsichord in class, with a very generous extra credit bonus! To get the most of this class, don't go in with a mindset just to take an easy class. Rather, embrace the chance to learn about Bach from one of the very best international harpsichordists teaching about his profession and his passion: performing Bach's works.
