Comment: Very passionate about circuits and construction. Lectures were well formatted and clear. My problem with this class however was how poorly structured and disorganized it was, which is the fault of the physics department itself. First of all, the lab manuals were poorly written and difficult to understand. Also, they were sometimes very daunting. The GSI's were not always helpful either; out of 7 or 8 GSI's, you could really only depend on half of them to actually help you understand difficult concepts and answer questions. It was so bad at times that they would even give you WRONG information. The grading was also super late, with more than half of the assignments not being graded until after the class was finished. Final projects were also a nightmare, as there was little time to work on them and help was not always given. Also, the fact that this class is 3 units is not unfair considering the amount of work that is completed.

Comment: Holzapfel was all over the place. Lectures were generally unhelpful, mostly derivations with little explanation. Homework was easy, mostly problems from Kittel. The exams were ridiculous, the second midterm has an average of 42, with a standard deviation of 24 (Over 20 people got below 20%). Overall not a great class, didn't learn that much.

Comment: Really cool guy. Very enthusiastic about the subject as well. Problem sets were fairly reasonable, but the exams were inconsistent in my opinion. Sometimes, they were too easy, and other times, too difficult. GSI was pretty good as well. Really good in office hours and in lecture. Stutters quite a bit but still quite clear.
