Comment: One of the best lecturers I've ever had, even the second time around. Super helpful and caring, despite seeming a little intimidating at times. The class was curved a little harshly in my opinion, and some of the problems were unnecessarily complicated/long but I think the latter is just part of the way 137A is set up at Cal. A lot of people hate on Griffiths ("easier" textbook, less mathematical/derivation based) but it saved me when I got lost in the harder one we were using.

Comment: This guy is a great instructor and a great guy. If you are a physics major, and you have the opportunity, take a class with this guy. He as a clear, logical method of teaching and is very kind and respectful to his students. He also has a pleasant sense of humor to keep lectures interesting. He presents a good amount of analogies to make understanding quantum concepts easier. Assignments were a bit mathy but outside a couple of problems, some of which were omitted in the end, they were useful in understanding the material. They can be done in a reasonable amount of time and were very much solvable if you went to discussion. The only downside of the class was that while exams were fair and very much solvable if you thought about them hard enough and studied, the curve ended up being rather poor partially because a lot of people understood the material from the class leading to students performing rather well as a whole.

Comment: Prof: Siddiqi is the bomb! Easily one of the best professors I've had. Explains things very clearly and intuitively, and has a good sense of humor. Makes class entertaining. He does call one people, but is nice about it if you have no idea what's going on. Class: Don't listen to the people who say Giancoli is too easy. Helped me out a ton when Purcell made no sense. As with the whole H7 series, the homework problems are nowhere near enough practice to actually understand the material. I'd recommend going through the examples and "challenge problems" in Giancoli before starting the homework.

Comment: Irfan is the man with the plan! Seriously take this course with him, you will not be disappointed! However, probably a difficult course for non majors.

Comment: You will not have a better professor at Berkeley. He is very friendly before and during class. He does call on people frequently during class, but usually only the same 10 or so people. Also the questions he asks during class are usually very easy if you read the chapter before class. The homework was always reasonable in difficulty and grading. The tests were relatively easy. He tried to make them similar to the homework and maybe only a little bit harder. Overall, best professor I've had. My eyes genuinely started to water during the last lecture.

Comment: My second class with him. I feel he's a bit underprepared compared to the H7B he usually teaches but still great compared to many other professors. Always cheerful and keeps the class in a good mood, though a bit satirical. Exams are considered not straightforward, but assignments were made by the GSI's so they prepare you well for his exams. Altogether still a great experience.
