Comment: Easy workload class. Only work is to give an article presentation, do RPP, submit a link to a video, and attend section. The rest of your grade is based on multiple-choice exams. I didn't do the reading or go to lectures (I read the slides and googled the terms/concepts on the study guide that were from the reading). Moderately interesting material too. But the class wasn't too generous with grading.

Comment: I really enjoyed this class!! Keltner was a great lecturer. The material was very interesting. The exams were 2 midterms and a final that was actually a 3rd midterm that you had the option of taking during class instead of final. They were very easy! I got 100% on 2 out of the 3. The only bad thing was that the class/material was a bit repetitive, but I think that is just because this is a pretty new field within psychology and there isn't an extensive amount of empirical research. Most of the research/studies discussed was Keltner's own. Also Daniel was an amazing GSI!

Comment: Pretty decent professor, very lively and encourages participation from the class by asking questions throughout the lecture, which is nice since the class is packed with hundreds of students. A lot of the material might seem like common sense, but it's cool to see the research that has gone into the study of happiness.

Comment: Keltner was a very solid professor and made the class a joy to sit through. The material is extremely light as it's all about the psychology of happiness and various studies that academics have done on it. Keltner was very enthusiastic about everyone getting an A in his class and it would be very difficult to get less than a B in this class if you attend some lectures and study before tests. My GSI on the otherhand was a bit awkward instructing a class, which wasn't as great of an experience.

Comment: I personally loved this class. But some other didnt really like it. It really depends on what you are looking for. But if you are interested in the subject then I am sure you will enjoy the class. Keltner is an amazing lecturer, pay attention and you will literally have fun in his class. The only downside to this class is that 3 assignments, RPP and section attedance all together are only 10% of the class and the other 90% is divided between two "not easy" tests. sooo watch out! don't cram

Comment: This was a really interesting class, and Keltner truly made it an enjoyable learning experience. Psych 160 teaches you about life, it's not just mundane/frivolous memorization.

Comment: Easiest 4 unit class I've ever taken. Super chill and easy. Enthusiastic and occasionally corny professor. Very little studying/general effort required. Answers to short answer section of exams essentially given away ahead of time, possible to pass the multiple choice section by using common sense. Not even that much memorization needed either. Awesome GSIs. Learned a lot, especially about how not to commit logical fallacies, not being a racist, judgemental prick, and that you can publish a study with a correlation coefficient of 0.2 and still claim to have strong evidence that videogames make you violent. Science!

Comment: I agree with many of the reviews on ratemyprof that Professor Keltner is overrated. He is a good speaker but his lectures lack coherency and substance. He never talks about concepts but instead tries to charm the class but making "jokes" and telling interesting stories. I was really interested in social psych going in but now the subject seems so Professor Serena Chen teaches in the spring and I regret not waiting a semester and taking the class with her instead.
