Comment: Took with Levenson, Spring 2014. 65% Exams (An average of your top 3 exams, out of 3 midterms and one final), 30% Discussion Section, 5% RPP (only 3 credits required). Class is really interesting, and Levenson is hilarious. The material moves at a nice pace. Textbook was not necessary - only 1-2 questions were from the textbook on each exam. Exams were 30 multiple choice, 5 fill in the blank (1.5 pts each), and one essay question. Exams were mostly conceptual. Section was mostly for review of articles/watching TED talks/review for exams. Each section is responsible for making a case presentation. Sections have a different movie to watch, and everyone is broken into groups of 7/8 (history, symptoms, diagnosis, outcome). Each section presents their powerpoint during lecture, and only 1 person per section had to present (so don't worry if you don't want to talk in front of the entire lecture hall - you don't have to!) The case presentations were a nice way to learn about specific disorders. On the exams, you were often asked about what the character was treated with (therapy/drugs), how they expressed symptoms, what disorder they had, etc. Take this class if you're interested! Easy class with minimal effort (2 hours studied for each exam).
