Comment: The first word that comes to mind is neurotic. Every lecture involves some sort of performance element, which is probably because she's also a faculty member in the TDPS department. The course was kind of an introduction to the rhetoric of art, which we eventually coupled with social theory analyses. I personally found the class very interesting, but a lot of rhetoric majors didn't find the course at all relevant to what they wanted to study. I heard the sentence "yeah, but who gives a shit?" a lot in that class. Once we got to the social theory unit (5 weeks in) though, people started warming up to her. Once we got to race theory, Professor Jackson started to let her white guilt get in the way of getting to the really interesting concepts, which was a bit of a let down, but also understandable. 2 Essays, 2 Performance Analyses (outside of class, but options were organized and announced by Professor Jackson), 1 Midterm, 1 Final, and Participation (lecture was mandatory, but GSIs held all the discretion).
