Comment: This class was great to start off my education at Cal. I haven't taken an Anthro class before and some of her articles were interesting while others were really dry. At some point, you will look at that reader and just stop reading. Her lectures are boring, but she is very passionate about what she is teaching. The material definitely was not difficult and was very manageable if you put a fair amount of time into it. I highly recommend it with her as tests and assignments were really fair.

Comment: Hayden is a passionate, engaging lecturer, and I would definitely recommend going to her lectures. The readings are rather dry, but as long as you gather the main point of each one from either lecture of section, then you'll be fine for the midterms and finals. Easy A if you understand the basic themes of the class.

Comment: I very much enjoyed this class. There wasn't too much work, although we did have a few papers to write, and the exams were fair if you put enough time into studying the material.

Comment: The exams are very easy and straightforward; don't stress too much about knowing every term, but make sure you understand the basic concepts that she stresses in class. Some of the assignments are a bit silly (drawing family trees with markers, for example) but are all easy and contribute to the main picture of the class. Overall, a very easy way to fulfill social science/AC requirements and boost your GPA.

Comment: There was a bit more dense reading than I expected but overall its a good class that gives you a different perspective. It made me realize what I had never thought of before which was a good thing. In this class, engage in discussion and dont do a half crap job/ because the GSIs are pretty merciful when it comes to grading. I recieved a B- on the midterm and still ended with an A. Do your best and do well to keep an open mind, the first few weeks are a bit rocky and you're like why did a take this class? Take it. Especially with Prof. Hayden she is an amazing professor! It was a good class, prepare to put some work into it and gain so much from the class.
