Comment: My section had Imagawa sensei for 4 days and Shibahara sensei for 1. At first, I didn't really like Shibahara sensei but later on I viewed the days she taught as breaths of fresh air. As for Imagawa sensei, she seemed to be in charge, at least for our section. Small things like unclear/packed assignment due dates, last-minute announcements, etc. make the class stressful, in addition to the group project that she made us redraft many many times before okaying it (don't expect to receive an okay until you present or even after...). This class was for sure not as fun as J1 or J10, but it was still okay I guess.

Comment: This class is mildly more time consuming than previous Japanese language classes, so be aware if you are taking technicals. You never have enough time for the tests either. Also, if you end up getting Imagawa-sensei supervising your project, prepare to turn in MANY MANY copies of it.

Comment: This class requires some serious time commitment. Expect for it to consume your life... The tests are straightforward but take A LOT of studying to pass much less ace. The class itself is fun and it's easy to meet new people and make new friends.

Comment: I had a mixed relationship with this class. Some days I would love it, some I would want to tear my hair out. Grade is nicely spread out so as long as you keep up, you should be fine. But it is the keeping up that will decide how you feel about this class. THIS CLASS GOES SUPER SUPER FAST - for those with no prior knowledge, I highly suggest you study solo during break to give yourself some leg room. You will learn two of the character systems within the first two weeks. Aside from the crazy pace, this class can be fun, the profs are so sweet, and the hour just whizzes by. The tests are possible to ace if you know your stuff - if not, you will struggle. Once you adapt to the pace and structure, there is a great deal to learn :D

Comment: She is one of the best teachers that i have met at Berkeley. I really like her and her class. Japanese is a very good course. Take it for sure if you want to learn it. but A+ is not easy.
