Comment: For a professor professing not to have known any General Equilibrium before being assigned to teach the first segment of Econ 201B, Prof. Ahn did an admirably good job. Rigorous, clear development of the material through careful definitions and theorem-proving. Provided typed lecture notes. Compared to the assignments given for the choice theory segment of 201A, assignments given for GE no longer involved any tedious arithmetics. Also, Ahn is the most hilarious lecturer ever. Unfortunately the exam he gave at the end was kind of a disappointment. One question was ambiguous and had to be thrown out. One question was intended to be a question about the uniqueness of some equilibrium, but he forgot to take into account that the equilibrium he was looking for actually doesn't even exist, making the problem trivial. Given that there were only 7 questions in total, the error rate is far too high.

Comment: A very good professor for choice theory. Develops the material in a rigorous, axiomatic manner that is ten times clearer than the MWG book. Gives clear and even entertaining lectures. Gave a fair exam at the end. The only criticism is that too many of the problems in the homework assignments involve too much tedious arithmetics.

Comment: The class was great. You could tell Ahn knows what he's talking about, and he was very interested in the topic. Class usually starts with a half hour discussion on some topic that the coursework applies to (sometimes only marginally, but it's interesting nonetheless). This was the best course I've taken at Berkeley, and I would highly suggest it for any econ majors who have the math preparation.
