Comment: This class is a great introduction to the large, emerging, and interesting field of Environmental Health Sciences (EHS). I took this class as non-public health major and have since become so sure about pursuing a career in the field of public health that I applied to and was accepted to numerous MPH programs in EHS. The class uniquely demonstrates the intersection of the environment, health, policy, science, and many other fields. The professors that taught the course when I took it (Asa Bradman, John Balmes, and Charlotte Smith) were very helpful and kind, both in lecture and during office hours, and expressed no interest in anything besides ensuring that all students learn and excel in the course. I strongly recommend everyone, even non-public health majors, to take this course to help develop the foundation for understanding the intersection between the environment and health.

Comment: Great class taught by three professors. If you are an undergrad, you will go to office hours with Professors Charlotte Smith and Asa Bradman. Both are very nice and extremely helpful in office hours. Going to office hours basically ensures an A. They are also very willing to write letters of recommendation. I learned so much and it has been one of my favorite classes at Cal.

Comment: This class really sets a firm foundation for understanding environmental health. It is co taught with Charlotte Smith, who is fantastic! The lectures are evenly split with each instructor covering their particular specialty. The coursework is appropriate as are the exams. Both Dr Balmes and Dr Smith have an immense amount of knowledge and equally their enthusiasm makes the class quite enjoyable.
