Comment: I took History 138 with the CalTeach section. Professor Carson is clearly a leader in her field, but lectures can be winding at times, with unhelpful PowerPoints. However, exams are fairly straightforward and consist of short responses. Carson will certainly help and engage with any student who has questions.

Comment: Interesting topics and lectures. The CalTeach discussion group was especially helpful in learning from watching each other teach the subject matter each week. A dozen writing assignments, one major presentation and two exams, but none of it was too awfully hard.

Comment: Not a difficult class, can be very boring if you don't participate in discussion. The book is extremely dry but Carson does her best to make it engaging. She cares about her seminar students and is enthusiastic about the subject. No papers, exams or anything graded. Participate once in a while and you'll pass.

Comment: Way too much reading for a 1 unit seminar course (1-2 hours a week) in addition to a small assignment. Carson was extremely enthusiastic about the material, which definitely helped. Note: this class studies the "structure" of scientific revolutions, not the revolutions themselves.
