Comment: No tests. Prof. Lieu knows a lot about the topic. Some of the HWs were annoying. Proj was really time consuming. Overall, a great class. Very useful.

Comment: Lieu's lectures and exams (1 midterm, 1 final, both hand drawing) were okay and he was pretty funny, but his assignments were pure hell (~15+ hours a week for a 2 unit class?!) and no one ever really taught us how to use AutoCAD... just what the engineering drawing rules were. The GSIs were not super helpful and didn't know how to answer questions in a clear way.

Comment: Overall, had a positive experience. His sense of humor makes the lectures worth going to. Since I took this class during its first offering, the homework load was not well-calibrated. I ended up spending twice the time on this 2 unit class's homework than on the 4 unit Physics 7A homework.

Comment: Completely lost interest in middle of the semester. Nothing against Professor Lieu since he was always well-prepared and knowledgeable and could answer just about any question we have.

Comment: Go to lab, if not the lectures. Lectures are somewhat useful, but he posts slides online. Very enthusiastic about material and has lots of applications/anecdotes. Weekly assignments can take a while, but you can get a lot done during lab. Lab is really, really useful. Lieu likes to be tricky on the midterms. Time is a big factor too. Final project is a LOT of work, especially if group members don't do their share. Participation in the group project can make/break your grade (ie. if your group members say you didn't do anything, Lieu is likely to fail you/bring your grade down a lot.) Overall, pretty interesting course, and is very applicable.

Comment: Lieu is helpful in office hours. His assignments were pretty fair but the project was pretty stupid (we made a car out of poster board and rubber bands that would go forward and backward by itself). We spent around 15 hours on making the thing and then like 2 on the CAD part. His lectures are dry, but he posts slides online so they're easily accessible. Exams were much harder than the assignments and sometimes had curveballs. There's no real way to study for them either than to do past midterms. He posts a few of those (but not all of them).

Comment: You don't really learn anything in this class, but you get to meet other engineering majors and some older students (the instructors) not a complete waste of time, and absurdly easy.

Comment: comes in and does his job, nothin more, nothing less. zips through everything as if he intentionally wants to lose people along the way. ugh frustrating. gsi's not helpful. one's loud n obnoxious, the other just floats around. you'll probably learn more by teaching yourself how to cad.
