Comment: Hindi 1B was a great follow-up course. The material gets tougher but she moves at a good pace (Not too fast or too slow). Tests are a good representation of the material and her grading is fair. She is a great teacher and very nice if you put in the effort.

Comment: Professor is strict, but fair. I was a non-heritage speaker and though I sometimes felt a little behind, I think she tried really hard to make the class equal and fair. She is extremely knowledgeable and willing to help, though she can be intimidating. Her tests and quizzes are not overly difficult and they are consistent with the material learned during the week. You have to spend time studying and memorizing on your own to do well. Overall, she's a great professor. I learned so much from her class.

Comment: helpful instructer, but like i already knew hindi so cant really say much. you have to work a lot on this class if you're not a heritage speaker. if ur a native speaker and study a decent amount, its a pretty easy A-/A, if ur a non-native speaker, it shouldnt be hard to get a B/B+

Comment: Lila-Ji's Hindi 1A class moves fast and caters to those who already have prior knowledge of Hindi. Those coming in cold will find themselves behind early on and catching up from the get go. But the class really requires dedication from all kinds of students, and even heritage students make mistakes. Lila-Ji expects you to work hard, and you have to show up every day, but if you do you'll be rewarded. You really learn a lot of Hindi in this class, and by the end I was amazed just how far I'd come. Her grading is strict, but since 50% of the class is attendance an in-class performance, you'll probably escape with a better grade than all the red ink on your homework would lead you to believe. Lila-Ji is talented, knowledgable, and tremendously dedicated to what she does.
