Comment: Spector is retiring after this semester, so you won't get a chance to take s133 with him. He really knows his stuff, replies to emails very quickly as well and most of what he teaches has very practical real-world applications. 6 assignments, 1 midterm, 1 final. No prior programming experience needed and the way the course is structured makes it very easy to follow along. Assignments are relatively easy, especially since our GSI went over most of the questions in section. MT and Final are hard since we're expected to write down actual commands w/o any notes to refer to. Curve is about 25-30% As, Kaufman is more generous with grades I believe.

Comment: Bit of a Linux/Open Source elitist, which got on my nerves a lot. It's a programming/stats class, but the course/language are structured such that having a programming background isn't that helpful. Knowing SQL in advance is very useful. Go to class and to lab sections and you should be fine; take the practice exams etc. and you should be good for the midterms.
