Comment: The kind of teacher that you sign up on sites like this so you can give a great review. Simply put, he knows how to teach and is exactly what you'd expect from a passionate teacher at Cal. He has very high standards - you'll definitely be challenged, but not overwhelmed. He's well connected as well, and even invited some currently serving French politicians to speak with the class once we reached a chapter on politics. You can't beat that.

Comment: Rafoni is just an awesome Marseilles man you just grow to love. He may come off as quiet and condemning of students' mistakes at first, but just participate and he'll thank you. We worked out of the 35 exercise textbook and most of his homework was transcription of french music, political videos, and old films. If your ears are not the best picking up French, you might need to spend a lot of time on these, but in the end, my French pronunciation was so much better. It was actually nice to have a class just to learn all these rules behind pronunciation because French acquisition classes never do that.
