Comment: One of the WORST instructor I've had in Cal. GSI herself is okay. She is nice. But the material is pointless. I won't say there's nothing coming out from the reading, but you can completely skip it. Only thing you need to study is from the slide and the assignments and all the MP3 files she assigns. Assignments are pretty hard if you don't know much about how to read music. Well, actually, I'll correct it: it is HARD no matter if you know music or not. Me and my girlfriend had to ask some music major students who have been playing music for the entire life for help, and they don't know the answer either (they're like what the heck is this?) Grading on assignment is not totally fair either. Me and my friend did the homework together and so we had the same answer. But I received a lot lower grade than they did because I didn't word them as beautiful as they do. I mean, this is a music class, not an English class. The short answers have exactly the same content but just worded differently. This is bxxlshxt The first midterm, everyone failed it. So she went like, "oh, I was going to curve it, but since everyone did so bad on it, I'm not gonna curve it now". I don't think she knows how curve works at all. You curve people up when the exam is written too hard. Not when everyone aces it. Almost forgot to mention. The grading system in her final sucks. If you calculate the percentage of multiple choice on her final vs the final part of overall grades, it turns out that "EVERY MULTIPLE CHOICE EQUALS TO ONE PERCENT OF YOUR OVERALL GRADE" So, if you miss 3 MC on your final, your grade goes from A to A-, B+ to B, B- to C+, ect. AND, don't think she did this because it's an easy final. It was actually somehow challenging (MC being the most difficult part) I was very confident I will get an A in this class before class started. But at the end, I got a big fat B, which destroyed my GPA. (Yeah a B is the worst grade I've ever got so far, and I have a senior standing) Conclusion: take this class if you want an easy breadth class. But DO NOT take it with this GSI. You'll suffer. TRUST ME. DO NOT TAKE IT WITH HER. DO NOT. (unless you want a bad grade after tons of studying)

Comment: Extra credit was good, homework was graded pretty harshly. A lot of emphasis on hearings on the midterm/final

Comment: Simple and short assignments, though the tests were a bit more specific than expected. She's an enthusiastic and helpful teacher.
