Comment: I took AP calc AB in high school and Math 16A was a joke compared to the rigorous material my high school teacher went over with us. Exams did get progressively harder but they were still much easier than the calculus AP tests. Grading was nitpicky and kind of annoying but still find. Homework due weekly took an hour at most for each assignment, quizzes were very simple, and lectures were basically useless. Woodin was not at all an engaging lecturer and it is very easy to fall asleep in his class. I would recommend skipping lectures with him and instead learning on your own and getting help from your GSI.

Comment: Woodin...is Woodin. 16A is not difficult but you can screw up if you don't know the small stuff. Woodin is a great professor, although you might get really bored in lecture since he has a really monotone voice. But he posts up practice midterms/finals which end up being pretty damn similar to the real thing!

Comment: Assignments are easy so are quizzes, but don't take this class unless you love proofs and taking exams that formatted differently than they said it would be. No good preparation for exams. His way of teaching: easy homework questions, and hard exams, plus bad grading on exams, you gotta be perfect and show EVERYTHING or you will lose stupid points that shouldn't be given.

Comment: He's a very monotone lecturer so it was really hard staying awake. His lectures tend to lean toward explaining the concepts behind why the math works, so basically proofs. I got by the semester without really going to lecture. The homework is really easy but does not really reflect the material on the exams. The exams were really reasonable, make sure to write explanations for each step you do (beside simplification), because they can potentially take points off. Overall the class is not too bad and it's basically Calculus AB material but more in depth.

Comment: Boring class. Incredibly difficult if you've never taken calculus.
