Comment: Lectures are unorganized, hard to follow and understand, however he is an extremely friendly professor who deeply cares about his student's well being, always happy to answer question in his office hour, homeworks are well made and important, tests are either too long or too short. If you want to do well in the class make sure to do and understand the hw, overall a good professor.

Comment: Lecture is not very clear and the organization is nearly non-existant. However, the homework assignments were EXTREMELY helpful and made all of the derivations and concepts much clearer and easier to understand. The exams were not easy, but were very fair and the questions were clear.

Comment: Homeworks were extremely helpful in helping me learn the material, especially if you missed class. Casey's lectures were pretty enthusiastic and often he would try to tie in what you were learning to real world examples, but if your mind tends to wander like mine does it's hard to follow his chalk-work afterwards (so many variables).

Comment: This class was definitely one of the best courses I've taken so far at Cal. Tips for success: go to EVERY lecture, andtake REALLY GOOD NOTES. The homework that he assigns are where you learn the material and the homework will usually refer directly to lecture. On that note, the homework is PHENOMENAL; you can tell that he spends a lot of time meticulously creating the problem sets. Also, Giorgio is FANTASTIC; awesome GSI, extremely helpful during office hours, and even responds to e-mails! All in all, Casey and Giorgio made this course very rewarding and very enlightening.

Comment: The best teacher I've had this semester! His assignments totally prepare you for the exams, however I feel like they hold your hand a bit too much. But if you're just looking to ace the class, they are perfect. He loves what he does and he loves helping us students, so please take advantage of it! His choice of GSIs this semester was phenomenal, they really enhanced this class' perspective and knowledge.

Comment: Taking good notes for the class is essential, so lecture attendance is crucial. Material was interesting - and I only took this class because I needed more technical units. I ended up liking the class very much - and I never thought I'd get so into a heavily theoretical class. Overall an enjoyable experience - I wish I had taken this before ME 106 or something. To nitpick, I feel like the professor didn't provide enough structure during the lectures. Statements like "Oh, we're doing fluids now. We'll be developing three or four different theoretical models of different fluids and such" would have been really helpful to organize the lecture material mentally. Discussion with Giorgio was great, though.

Comment: Homeworks were really useful, and office hours were really helpful. Lectures were sometimes a bit difficult to follow, especially for an undergraduate like myself, but he was really enthusiastic, so that resonated throughout the class. Exams are really straightforward, and grading is very generous. Would definitely take a course with Professor Casey again. If you take 185 with him, definitely spend a lot of time understanding the homeworks and in office hours. He's super approachable and helpful.

Comment: It is obvious that Professor Casey is very enthusiastic about continuum mechanics. He and the GSI provided many office hours to help with the homework and course material. The exams were fair and similar to the homework. The homework was sometimes long and tedious, but understandable for the most part.

Comment: A really nice guy and funny sometimes because of his blunt, old man, attitude. No the greatest at explaining things. Did not emphasized the important points which was annoying. Tests were very fair, border-line easy. Assignments were inconsistent. Sometimes 3 hours a week, sometimes 15, yes inconsistent.
