Comment: I never saw Roderick in person.... But I mean his lectures were decent at 2x speed I think. Not the most exciting professor, but I did feel like he cared about what he was teaching. Exam was pretty fair.

Comment: His section is really easy. He posts his powerpoint slides the night before lecture and they each have a list of important terms/concepts at the end. Define and study these and you'll ace the tests. He is really helpful too and sends out quite a few resources to make studying easier. The only bad thing is he always says "We'll talk about this later in the course" and then we don't talk about it. Oh well.

Comment: Really fun lectures, which you better watch if you dont go in person since the slides are basically useless without his commentary. Labs were not very fun and were kind of childish (picking up beads?) BUT exams were fairly straightforward and he's very helpful and enthusiastic as a professor

Comment: A decent lecturer, he tried to provide fun or relevant examples wherever possible. In spite of that, his lecture style was rather dry, and did at times hamper understanding. However, his exams are fair, and he does make himself accessible to students.

Comment: Roderick is extremely clear. His slides make sense, and each and every exam question was directly from the slides. He uses real-world examples to illustrate broader concepts, and even includes Berkeley professors' research in case you want to learn more.

Comment: I really liked Roderick. You can tell that he was definitely passionate about ecology and he has lots of current fieldwork with the subject (he likes to include pictures/stories about his family). His power-points can be a bit hard to follow sometimes, but he does well to emphasize what he thinks is important from which slides. I do recommend reading the book even though it's not necessary if you go to lecture because it does clarify some concepts that he doesn't have time to elaborate on. I felt that he was one of the most helpful of the three professors in terms of providing the most review and making himself as accessible as possible. Overall just a really nice guy. His midterm and final were straightforward and fair based primarily from information on his power-points.

Comment: Roderick was definitely the easiest of the three professors spring 2013. His tests were basic memorization and if you defined the terms in the powerpoint slides they were super easy. Lecture and book are both not necessary and I watched the lecture at 1.5x speed.
