Comment: Grading was very inconsistent throughout the course. First drafts would have errors that were completely fixed for the final (nothing else changed) and then new errors that were in the original draft were marked off in the final.

Comment: Took the class in summer 2013. Jennifer is incredibly kind and helpful. She is an active person and loves to talk about her sporting activities, and her experience in researching about ASL is interesting. She likes discussions and debates, so as long as you argue effectively she will respect your work and give generous grades. I can't really say about assignments in the fall or spring because in the summer a lot of the materials are cut out, leaving only the essentials. We only had 2 main essays, each 4-5 pages long - very manageable. Readings might be a bit long sometimes, but tell Jennifer so and she will adjust future readings accordingly.

Comment: I wish I could say I liked her, I thought the content was very interesting but I wish I had a different GSI. Assignments were kinda pointless, and she was semi-helpful during office hours; she seemed distracted most times.

Comment: Can I say that this is the most boring class I had ever taken here at Cal? Do NOT take this class unless it is required for your major or minor. Professor Johnson will cast a sleep spell during class that involves rhythmic dance movements and monotonous voice that lectures about the Shaman's dance in the Hopi culture. You'll end up sleeping, dreaming about a dance in which you cannot understand. Exams are extremely hard to study for. No study guides, only what you had read. No way to revisit lectures you may had missed or dozed off in.

Comment: Go to class and you get everything you need. No need to really read the reader. Tests are on what she says in class. Very easy class if you go to class.

Comment: Johnson is very knowledgeable about dance, but she drones on about them in class, so it's rather boring. There really weren't any assignments in class besides doing some reading and watching some videos, and all the exams were dead easy. Nice class for those interested in dance, just an easy/boring class otherwise.

Comment: Material was extremely well crafted. I was just bitter that Johnson knew so much and I couldn't grasp it as quick, and I'm sorry I called her a troll doll. Good class, GO TO IT and LEARN. SO MUCH FUN! First midterm was dead easy, second was a toughie and final was well done because of clarity of instruction and readings. do the readings, go to class, engage, that's all to it.
