Ratings for Brandes, S H
Based on 15 ratings for this instructor.
Comment: Professor Brande's lectures for Anthro 140 were very relaxed and straightforward. He was very engaging and nice. All of the readings for this class were interesting, and you will do well on the exams as long as you know the general summaries and main ideas of each reading. Additionally, there were a few assignments that were graded very fairly. I highly recommend Anthro 140 to everyone, including non-Anthro majors.

Comment: Professor Brandes is not very organized in his lectures and it is very hard to get the main point of his lectures. He is knowledgable in what he has studied and is funny. He is very easy in grading both exams and assignments but you will have to read a lot and he is not so helpful in guiding you with specific steps. overall he is alright

Comment: Exams are fair, but the class is a complete bore. It makes paying attention, studying, or even going to class such an ordeal that getting a good grade is made so much harder.

Comment: He's a cute old professor with enthusiasm. However, the readings were so much for a certain topic. Grades are half dependent on papers which depends on the GSI. The tests are open ended about vocabulary and an essay you pick from 2 choices.

Comment: He is always very enthused about Anthropology, but having this class for an hour and a half at 9:30 does not keep me awake at all. Hour and a half classes don't work for me, I feel if the class was an hour, I would have stayed awake and I would have rated him a little higher. He also seems like a very nice and down-to-earth man outside of class.

Comment: Enthusiastic and nice professor. He actually went and did a ton of his own research around the globe and has interesting stories. Tests are easy and, if you go to lecture and read the material it should be an easy A.
