Comment: This is for the photoshop seminar. There are no exams and the assignments were like "take a photo" or "color this photo of my car." I didn't know what I was expecting for this class exactly but if I didn't need the unit I probably wouldn't have taken it. It was easy but really boring. I think he was BSing a lot of things or trying to show off but honestly, clicking the paintbrush tool on photoshop and making squiggly lines isn't that impressive. Overall, everything he "taught" for the past semester can be found online on photoshop tutorials or something. It was basically how to use the buttons in photoshop and that was it.

Comment: Ohhhh man. This class was the hardest I've ever taken at Cal, and I've taken a ton of other courses (including a grad one). The homework started off easy but then became way too difficult. One GSI was bad but the other, Kan, managed to save me from failing the course. The dude deserves a medal. I think many people prefer midterms over quizzes, so be warned about those. Each quiz is one problem (easier than homework, which says something about the difficulty of the hw), and that one stupid problem is worth almost 10% of your grade. You can either make your quizzes worth a ton or your final, but like others have said, the final is ridiculous. ... I do like Tongue's character though... if only he had more than 1 hour of OH a week...

Comment: Quizzes were moderately difficult, but fair. The FINAL WAS KILLER. Homework was hard as heck, but his enthusiastic teaching made up for a lot of it.

Comment: I understood the class well and worked my butt off. I didn't make it to class everyday, and he knew it. No one can deny that Tongue plays favorites. As someone mentioned before, the quizzes were huge in the class, and I worked super hard to stay on track. Of course, right after pulling an all nighter studying for one and acing it, I went to turn it in as the prof was walking towards the door; I shouted at him and he pretended to ignore me. I ran after him; right as his foot stepped out of the door, I caught up with him with my quiz out. He refused to take it, as he was "out the door" and refused to take my quiz. This was one of, what, 5-6 quizzes? C+ it is.

Comment: much of the course taught by student presentations. I would rather learn from the professor. He gave good advice and tips upon review of your presentation

Comment: No exams for the seminar. Just prepare a presentation and a 5-page paper to pass the class. Professor Tongue is very well-versed and extremely entertaining and clear when explaining things. Overall, a great seminar with an unique educational experience.
