Comment: Dr. Cohen is amazing! he's very intelligent and makes the topic very interesting and fun. I learned a lot more than I expected from his class, but his lectures are also very sophisticated (for a lower div class). You'll learn a lot but also you gotta work a lot for his class (I think it was worth it though)

Comment: Professor Cohen was awesome. Be prepared to earn your grade! There are 6 books to read, 5 short essays, 1 research paper and 2 exams. Its a LOT of work, but worth every minute. The exams cover all that you have read and lectures. Exams are mainly essays. It depends on your GSI on grading. I had a great GSI who was available to help, and really helped me fine tune my writing. Honestly, I felt his lectures where so detailed, that there was no need for half the reading and writing, but if nothing else, I can tell you all there is to know about WWII! Oh he's a hottie, too, if that helps. :)

Comment: Extremely passionate professor. one of my favorite at Berkeley. Seems a bit one sided, but he is a great lecturer. Tests were fair but graders were picky. The book selection wasn't the greatest but some were great as well. Overall a good class.

Comment: He was an engaging lecturer. He talks really fast, so I would suggest bringing an audio recorder unless you can write fast. There were two 5-page papers, a midterm exam, and a final exam. The paper assignments were difficult but fair. The two exams were fair, but the GSIs were nit picky when grading the IDs. The exams cover both lectures and readings, so make sure to keep up with the readings. The amount of reading is fair.

Comment: Lectures were generally quite interesting if not biased. Cohen openly admits that he is extremely liberal, in case that is a turn off for you. If you're not a humanities major be sure to dust off your old SAT skills of writing an essay in 25 minutes.

Comment: can't really say anything too bad about as 10ac, the tests were fair, essays interesting, gsis helpful. my only qualms lie within the actual content of the course, which i found to be very skewed towards the left. cohen is obviously a bleeding heart liberal and that unfortunately taints the stuff he teaches, no matter how well he teaches it.
