Comment: The absolute worst professor I have ever had. He should not be teaching. Exams and labs are written cryptically and his lectures are useless because he never stays on topic. His jokes are unprofessional. He does not care about students at all, and will be mad if you ask him questions. Everything I learned in the class was from trial and error and A LOT of time outside class and lab.

Comment: Very funny guy, and a pretty solid professor. Tests are not bad, and it's true he guides you every step of the way when doing the homeworks/labs, but that doesn't mean they don't take quite a long time. Doing a good job on them generally requires at least 6 hours, and it's not the most interesting thing (to me anyway)..lots of mouse-clicking. Also, I found myself living in Wurster during the weekends haha

Comment: One of the best and most challenging classes I have taken at Berkeley. Mr. Radke is, well, rad, and his enthusiasm clearly shows during lectures. Lectures can be long and boring but unless you do the readings then you have yourself to blame. Prof. Radke is sometime too knowledgeable and his talks can get way over your head. Labs are rewarding, and you can work at home if you can make ArcGIS 10 work on your computer. Thankfully the GSIs are helpful and it's really on you to take charge of what you understand and don't. Exams can be challenging to prepare for but it's all fair game. This is the class that you would expect to find at Berkeley. No BS.

Comment: He can sometimes ramble a lot (i.e. into the history of satellites or go into Canadian jokes), but overall chill class. The GSIs can be very helpful and accessible in terms of getting GIS help. Some assignments were also really inspiring, but time-consuming! Do take this class, since GIS is a really powerful tool in many different industries. However, he has a bias toward landscape architecture, so be prepared to make 3d models of hills.
