Comment: Great professor, very straightforward exams if you read and study the material well and make an attempt to understand. Make sure to go to all the lectures; the material gets really complicated and confusing pretty fast and if you miss a lecture it's difficult to find notes, since there is no proper textbook, but just readings. Overall a fun and very eye-opening class!

Comment: He's a good professor and you can really see his enthusiasm for Buddhism. I thought he did a really good job explaining the subject. (The Buddhism philosophy is a lot more complicated than you think.) Attend EVERY lecture, because they're all pretty important. He gave us two papers worth 15% each, one midterm, and one final. Both the exams were 10 short answers. Also, before the exam he gave us a vocab list to study off of. Don't rely on just the list, review ALL of the lectures. Some lectures are boring, but just push through it and you'll be fine. Overall, I really liked him as a professor.

Comment: The first midterm he gave all the key terms and you basically just had to study everything he gave to do well. The final was similar to this style. The large part of your grade comes from the weekly papers he gives, which the grade really depends on what GSI you have grading them. Overall very interesting class give you a great background on the history of Buddhism, though doesn't go into depth on the actual practice.
